Rodrigo Ponce Biography
Rodrigo Ponce is a Peruvian, New York–based guitarist and composer for film and visual media. He has collaborated with directors in NYC and internationally across dozens of narrative and documentary projects, including short films, a feature film, and a video game. His work is rooted in storytelling, crafting distinctive musical identities that deepen emotional impact and support each film's dramatic arc.
Blending orchestral writing, sound design, and modern production, Rodrigo has orchestrated and recorded with professional ensembles including the San Agustín University Symphony Orchestra, Sinfoni Arequipean Orchestra, and the Budapest Scoring Orchestra. His musical voice draws from symphonic tradition while integrating jazz, Brazilian, and Afro-Peruvian influences, creating a rich and versatile sonic palette.
A recipient of the Alan Menken Scholarship and NYU's Global Citizen Scholarship, Rodrigo recently completed his Master's degree in Screen Scoring at New York University. His international training includes studies at the Faculty of Souza Lima & Berklee in Brazil and a Bachelor's degree in Contemporary Music from Dublin City University, Ireland.
